The line is regularly associated with melody – melos to the Greeks – who initially used it with the meaning of articulation, although it ended up designating the tonal component of sound or melody. Lines has been composed on the basis of this double significance as a tonal component (motif, theme, etc…) and, of course, as a general articulation principle of all the composition that develops in short modules characterized by their variations in musical gesture affecting different parameters, especially in the the work of orchestration. This articulation leads all the lines of the piece from materials that are continuously generating derivations.
The work is brief, reaching an approximate duration of 6 minutes and 30 seconds. It uses clear writing using only more contemporary resources when sporadically required. It pursues an almost chamber-like role that brings it closer to a concerto for orchestra.
