Just after the premiere of Sun reflections<\/a><\/strong> the opportunity arose to work on a new project with Robert Armengol and the marimba. The result, Marimba Reflections<\/strong>, the author’s second piece using the acoustic instrument\u2019s voice to trigger the interaction of the MAX-MSP computer system. The action-reaction game becomes especially relevant here: the possibilities of the soloist instrument on one hand, and the responses of the computer on the other, is a strategy used frequently across this piece in different ways and degrees. Developed from the acoustic material using the natural resonances of the marimba, this piece uses a sound blanket approach which is imposed and maintained from start to finish. Due to its duration (just over 20 minutes) it accentuates the immersive and, to a certain extent, magical sonority of the marimba through expanded meditative breathing. The recording took place at Pilar Subir\u00e1\u2019s private studio and under the technical supervision of Andr\u00e9s Lewin-Richter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new version by Iv\u00e1n Herranz has been included in the monographic CD Reflections<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
